State competition at Ford Field is Saturday, November 4.  Jenison is in Flight II which this year starts at 7:30pm.  If you would like to pre-purchase tickets you can save $2 per ticket.  This year the pre-purchase price is $18 for adults, $13 for students/Sr. Citizens.  You may wait and purchase them at the door, just remember they accept CASH ONLY at Ford Field.  If you are interested, please print the form and turn it into the band office NO LATER THAN Monday, October 2 by 6pm.  Once the tickets are received you will get an email letting you know where/when to pick them up.

The Jenison Invitational is approaching as quickly as summer passed.  Did you know that our invitational is the largest in the state and that Jenison Bands raise over $50,000 through this fundraiser?  This goes a long way to offset out costs and this is why we need all hands on deck to make this day a success.  I know that many of you have already signed up for your required shifts.  Would you please consider another?  We are still in need of SEVERAL people for afternoon and evening concessions (which is when we sell the most food!!!).  Ed (head of concessions) promises that you may go out to see Jenison perform during your shift!  There is also a need for a few people to help with parking.  Check out the Invitational Sign-Up Genius link here:  jivolunteer.weebly.com/

And just like that, we officially move into the school year.  This where the schedule changes a bit and the real fun begins. Rehearsals continue on Mon and Tues evenings from 6-9pm.  Beginning this Saturday, Saturday rehearsals begin as well.  These normally run from 9a-4p and then are followed by a meal (thanks to Feed the Band) before heading out to the evening's competition.  September is a bit different this year:

9/9 - Rehearsal 9a-4p
9/16 - Rehearsal 9a-8p  (Students will be fed by Feed the Band)
9/23 - Toledo Regional - exact schedule will be posted at www.jenisonbands.org the weekend (or Monday) prior, but there will be no rehearsal.  Students will report to the HS and head out to Toledo. They typically perform twice.  The first performance will be in block 3 (between 1230-2pm).  The second performance will be in the evening.  This will be a very late night as they do not leave Toledo for home until around 11pm.  Many parents travel to Toledo to support the band.  
9/30 - No Rehearsal - Homecoming 

Before you know it the season will be almost done and we will be headed to Nationals in Indy.  If you are planning to go, it's best to book your hotel NOW.  If you aren't sure that you'll go, just reserve a room that you can cancel.  The band will perform initially around 6pm on Thursday 11/9.  If we make semi-finals, the second performance will likely be early Saturday (11/11) morning.  The students stay to watch the finals Saturday evening, so they will not arrive home until the wee hours of Sunday morning...you may need to make arrangements for pick up if you travel to Indy and want to come back on Sunday.
