Just a week later found the marching band preparing for their final performance of the season. It was a beautiful evening, with clear skies directly overhead. The 44-degree temperature reflected the angry October clouds that surrounded Jenison. This was a night solely for the program to share itself with our community and to honor this year’s outgoing 35 seniors. Crowds of people were pouring in as the front ensemble warmed up. The night’s festivities began with some words from Principle Graham followed by Director Zamborsky. His words were sincere and moving as he acknowledged the loss of experiences and memories due to the broken up season. He expressed his gratitude to the band members for continuing to work hard and build their skills in preparation for next year. As the band moved off to warm up near the scoreboard, the spectators were made aware that the performance would be recorded professionally by Unique Digital Productions and a digital copy could be purchased for merely $10.
As the band made their way onto the field for the last time this season, the excitement in the stands was palpable. This was it. The big finish. After a 6:36 minute performance, the stand erupted in cheers and celebration. Afterward, families joined their student on the field for some pictures and congratulations. As the cold of the night began to settle in, everyone made their way out of the stadium. If our marching band could make it through this year’s challenges and still retain much of their abilities, then there is a bright future indeed! We are all very proud!
