So Mini Camp is over, we made it. How was it? Exhausting? Exciting? Confusing?Difficult? Your child is likely feeling several different emotions regarding their introduction to the new marching band season, but I hope that overall it was a great introduction to what lies ahead. As a second year marching band parent of two very different kids, I believe that each member enjoys (and dreads) different aspects. Hopefully your child is pumped (is that still a cool word?) about the season after their experiences earlier this week. If your child is feeling discouraged, encourage him/her to hang in there. All that hard work and discipline, along with the tired sore muscles, will add up and in the end our kids will pull together another amazing show that they will be proud to perform. Trust me. Percussionists are either in the front ensemble (formerly referred to as 'the pit') or the battery. The front ensemble does not March but instead plays the instruments such as the marimba, vibraphone, suspended cymbals, synthesizer, and more! The battery includes the bass drums, tenors & snares. The battery is the only section that wears a specific practice uniform (white shirt/red shorts). The shorts color changes each year. Winds include all the instruments other than the battery & front ensemble. If you have a question (or a fun fact of your own) please comment below. We'd love to find the answer to your question and post the answer for everyone. If you have a question, chances are others are wondering too!
